How do I tell how many cylinders my car has?

My friends at the bar were talking about cylinders in their cars. I had no idea what they meant. How do I check to see how many mine has?

Don’t worry about those car aficionados! Once you follow these steps, you’ll be able to keep up with them no problem:
  • Find the spark plug wires. They are usually on the top or side of the engine. Look for blue, black, or red wires.
  • Count the number of plug wires. For most cars, the number of spark plug wires will equal the number of cylinders
That said, it’s important to know v-shaped engines have plug wires on both sides of the engine. These engines usually have six or eight cylinders.
If you’re having difficulty locating the spark plugs, another option is to search your car online. If you enter your car’s make, model, and year into a search engine, along with the word cylinders, you should get your answer!
No matter how many cylinders your car has, you’ll want to make sure it has the best insurance possible. To get that best-case scenario, download the
