How do I switch my Erie car insurance to a new vehicle?

I have Erie car insurance on a vehicle, but I traded the vehicle in for a new car. I know I need to insure my new car, of course, but I'm not sure how to do it. How do I transfer Erie insurance to my new vehicle?

“Congrats on the new vehicle! I’m glad to report that
Erie
provides a rollover service that covers your new car after you sell or trade-in your own car.
When you purchase the car, you’re covered under your
liability coverage
for up to 30 days and
comprehensive
and
collision coverage
for seven days.
All you need to do is call within those time frames to give your car insurance agent the information on the new car, including:
  • Make, model and year
  • Titling and lienholder information
  • Expected annual mileage
  • General usage information (such as how far you drive to work)
  • Vehicle identification number (VIN)
Once you have this information, give Erie a call at 1-800-458-0811 to complete the switch.
As a heads up: for a number of reasons related to the new vehicle, you might find that your new vehicle costs more to insure with Erie. If you want to make sure you’re getting the best deal on the coverage you need, try using the
Jerry
app—we’ll get you quotes from multiple providers so that you can choose the plan that works best for you.
Best of luck with switching the coverage, and enjoy your new ride!”
