If you’re looking to switch your
car insurance companies
for your cars, you only have a few things you need to do.
Start by exploring your options and requesting
car insurance quotes
from a variety of companies. When requesting quotes, provide the VIN (vehicle identification number) of the two vehicles, as well as your driver’s license number and other personal information.
If you want to change any coverages you have on your cars, this is also a great time to do so. When you look into quotes with other companies, you can also look at other coverages.
Once you find a policy that you like, inform your current insurance company that you plan on switching. They’ll can provide you more information about any potential refunds or cancellation fees.
To avoid a lapse in coverage, coordinate the cancellation of your prior policy with the effective date of your new policy. If you can, purchase your new policy first and then cancel your current policy. After your new policy is effective, your vehicles are officially covered on a new policy.
