How do I stop my car insurance?

I'm getting ready to sell my car and I need to cancel my State Farm insurance. How do I do that?

“Canceling your car insurance is usually pretty easy—you’ll just need to get in touch with your insurance provider.
Keep in mind that you’ll probably want to time your cancellation so that you lose coverage when you officially sell your car. That will make sure you’re protected while you still own it and while potential buyers test drive it.
When you’re definitely ready to
cancel
, you’ll want to give your insurer a call to ask them about the cancellation process or search their website for related info.
Some companies will need more from you than others. At State Farm, it’ll be a relatively
simple process
.
Other companies will require that you pay a cancellation fee, and some insurers will also require a cancellation letter, which you’ll have to sign and send in. After that, you’ll receive a notice of policy cancellation that verifies your request was approved.
