is only recommended as a last resort. But if you don’t want to spend money on a locksmith, even a novice DIYer should be able to get the job done. Just follow these instructions to slim jim your car.- Purchase a slim jim from your local auto parts store.
- Slightly bend the slim jim so it can grab the lock mechanism more easily.
- Slide the slim jim between the door and the window.
- Turn the slim jim at an angle so that the bottom of it is angled toward the lock mechanism. This may take a few tries before you feel the lock mechanism.
- Pull up and the door should unlock.
