How do I sell a car in Kansas?

I want to purchase a new vehicle, but before I do, I want to sell my old car. I’ve never sold a car before, so I’m not sure where to start. What steps should I take to sell my car in Kansas?

Buying a new car is an exciting venture, so congrats! Fortunately,
selling your car
is easy in the state of Kansas. Once you’ve found a buyer, sign the title over, write a bill of sale, and complete a seller’s notification of sale.
To ensure you don’t miss any steps, follow these directions:
  • Sign over the car title. Make sure that you print your name and sign the title. The buyer should do the same.
  • Complete an odometer disclosure statement (Form TR-59) if your title has no space for the odometer reading.
  • Complete Form TR-312 - Bill of Sale.
  • Complete Form TR-216 - Seller’s Notification of Sale and send in a $10 check or money order to the address listed on the form.
  • Cancel your insurance or transfer it to the new car.
When buying a new car, don’t just assume your current car insurance company has the best rates. Instead, compare quotes with the Jerry app to be sure.
