How do I reset the oil service light on my 2005 BMW X5?
How do I turn off the oil service light on my 2005 BMW X5? My dad is a retired mechanic, so he came over to my house two days ago to help me change my oil. But he forgot to reset the oil service light. I have tried calling him a few times, but my parents left to go camping today.

Although your dad didn’t reset the service light this time, it is an easy fix that you can successfully master so you’re prepared if this situation occurs again.
- Step one: Insert the key into the ignition, but don’t start the car.
- Step two: Press and hold the odometer reset button, located near the bottom left corner of the dashboard. Turn the key to the ACC position.
- Step three: Release the button and you’ll see RESET on the dashboard.
- Step four: Hold down the odometer button again until RESET starts blinking.
- Step five: Press the button one more time. End SIA will appear, indicating the reset is complete.
