How do I reset the oil life on a 2012 Honda Accord?

I got an oil change a few days ago, but when I look at the oil life gauge on my instrument panel, it still reads 35%. How can I reset the oil life on my 2012 Honda Accord?

An oil change is an integral part of
basic car maintenance
, so good job on getting that done! Your mechanic probably just forgot to reset the oil life light, but doing it yourself is a cinch.
Follow these instructions to reset the oil life on a 2012 Honda Accord:
  • Turn the key to the on position. Or if you have a push-button start, press the button twice.
  • On your instrument cluster, find the trip button. Use it to select oil life.
  • Press and hold the trip button for 10 seconds, or wait until the oil life indicator starts to flash.
  • Release the button.
  • Press and hold the trip button again for five seconds, or until oil life reads 100%.
