How do I reset the MAINT REQD light on a Toyota?

I just took my Toyota Camry into the shop and everything’s running great. However, the MAINT REQD light continues to light up on the dashboard. How can I reset the maintenance required light on my Toyota?

Getting regularly scheduled maintenance on your
Toyota Camry
is a great way to preserve its value and reliability. In all likelihood, the mechanic at your preferred shop simply forgot to reset the light. But don’t stress; it’s easy to change.
To reset the MAINT REQD, or maintenance required, light on your Toyota Camry, just follow these simple steps:
  • Put your key in the ignition and turn it once. If you have a push-button start, take your foot off the brake and press the push-button start twice.
  • Use the trip button to switch the readout to your total mileage on the odometer.
  • After you see the total mileage, press and hold the trip odometer.
  • While you’re holding the trip odometer button, turn the key to the off position.
  • Keeping the trip button depressed, turn the key back to the on position.
  • If done correctly, the MAINT REQD dashboard light should have disappeared.
Resetting the maintenance required light is ideal right after you’ve had your car serviced. By resetting it, you know when it illuminates again that it’s time to take your car to the shop.
