To reset the gas gauge needle you may need to replace a fuse or reset the electrical unit. It depends on whether your gas gauge is digital or analog.
If the gas gauge needle is inaccurate, the sending unit is probably bad. Luckily, there are a few easy things you can check to rectify the problem.
For digital gauges:
  • Check the owner’s manual for reset steps
  • Follow reset steps.
  • You will probably need to turn the car on and off while manipulating the odometer switch according to the manual’s instructions
For analog gauges:
  • Check the connections and wiring
  • Find out where the mechanic components are located by checking your owner’s manual
  • Carefully inspect and clean everything
  • Check the fuse that controls the fuel gauge
  • You may need to remove a panel and consult your owner’s manual again
  • Try replacing the fuse if it’s faulty
