Getting regular oil changes is an integral part of car ownership, so good job on that! Your mechanic just forgot to reset the oil life. But don’t worry. It’s easy to fix.
Use the trip button on the instrument cluster to reset the oil life on a 2006
Turn the key to the II position, also known as the on or accessories position. Don’t start the engine.
Find the trip button on the right-hand side of the instrument cluster. You usually use this to reset your trip odometer, but you can also use it to select oil life.
Press the trip button until oil life appears at the bottom of the instrument cluster.
Press and hold the trip button for 10 seconds. The oil life should flash.
Once the oil life flashes, release the button.
Then, immediately press the trip button again for 5 seconds or until oil life returns to 100%.
