How do I replace the fuel injectors in a Lincoln Town Car?
I love my Lincoln Town Car, but lately it hasn’t been running as well as it used to. I took it to a mechanic who said it’s probably the fuel injectors, but I don’t have the money to put it in the shop right now. I was hoping I could do it myself—so, how do you go about replacing the fuel injectors in a Lincoln Town Car?

A Lincoln Town Car—nice, I love that old-school style! If you don’t have any experience working on cars, this might be something best left to a professional mechanic. However, if you’re pretty comfortable fooling around under the hood, here’s how to replace fuel injectors on a Lincoln Town Car:
Remove the fuel injectors:
- Unplug the battery ground cable.
- Remove the filler cap and release the pressure from the fuel tank.
- Pull the air cleaner outlet tube from the throttle body.
- Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator.
- Disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses with a spring lock coupling disconnect tool.
- Disconnect the fuel charging wiring from the fuel injectors
- Remove the 4 retaining bolts from the supply manifold.
- Separate the fuel injectors from the supply manifold. Remove the manifold.
- Rock the injectors back and forth and lift to remove them.
Replace the fuel injectors by doing the opposite:
- Connect the supply manifold and injectors.
- Install the retaining bolts.
- Push the spring lock coupling into place.
- Reconnect the vacuum line to the pressure regulator.
- Turn on the ignition—the fuel charging wiring should still be disconnected. This will pressurize the system.
- Check for fuel leaks with a towel.
- Connect the fuel charge wiring to the fuel injectors.
- Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Let the vehicle idle for two minutes, then turn off the engine and check for leaks.
