How do I replace the carpet in my car?

My car’s carpeting has gotten pretty nasty after all these years. I’d love to replace it, if possible. How do I replace the carpet in my car?

To replace carpet in your car first remove the carpet. This includes completely taking out your:
  • Front and back seats
  • Seat belts
  • Trim
With everything removed, you can yank up the old, dirty carpet.
Lay out the old carpet and line it up with your new carpeting. Use your old carpet to cut out the shape and size of your new carpet and to find where you’ll need holes for studs and cables.
Lay out the carpet and trim any excess material. Coat the back of the carpet with adhesive spray to help it stay smooth and connected to your vehicle.
Then, reinstall all the removed seats and other components.
This can be very time intensive, if it sounds too complicated, head to a mechanic and have them replace the carpet.
While carpet replacement isn’t covered, there’s plenty of repairs a good
