Can you tell me how to replace the battery in my Honda key fob by myself? I don’t want to accidentally break it, but I definitely need a new battery. I can’t unlock my doors or anything currently.
First, you’ll need to figure out the battery type. You can do this by checking the back of the key fob or consulting your owner’s manual.
Once you’ve purchased the correct battery, use a jeweler’s screwdriver to remove the screw in your remote.
Carefully pry open the two halves of the remote using a flathead screwdriver.
Remove the old battery. Be careful not to touch the terminals as you do this—it can damage your future battery life.
Insert your new battery. Make sure that the negative and positive terminals line up properly!
Press the two halves back together and test out your new battery by pressing any button on your remote. Then, replace the screw.
