How do I replace my Toyota Highlander hybrid 12v battery?
The battery gave out on my 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid and I literally cannot find it anywhere under the hood. How am I supposed to replace this thing?

Toyota Highlander Hybrid
12v battery replacement, you’ll actually need to look in your car’s trunk. **To locate the battery:
- Open the trunk.
- Locate the side panel that has two tabs.
- Fold back the trunk lining in front of the side panel.
- Pull off the side panel using the tabs. There’s your 12v battery!
When purchasing your new battery, ensure it is the correct model for your hybrid.
Once you are ready to replace the battery with a new one, follow these steps:
- Remove the brace securing the battery to the vehicle using a ratchet.
- Using your ratchet, remove the negative terminal (the one closest to the bumper) ensuring it doesn’t touch anything metal in the car.
- Remove the positive terminal.
- Pull the hose and electronic hookup out of the battery.
- Slide the battery out and replace it with the new battery.
- Reconnect the hose and electric component, followed by the positive terminal and then the negative terminal and bracket.
