How do I replace a Mazda 5 key fob battery?

The key fob for my Mazda 5 just randomly stopped working the other day and I'm really hoping it's just an old battery. Once I get a new key fob battery, how do I replace the old one?

Hopefully, it’s just your battery and something else isn’t wrong! Typically it takes three to four years for key fob batteries to die, so you can compare your fob’s timeline with that.
If it is just a battery issue, take a breath. It’s easy to replace a
Mazda 5
key fob battery! Just follow these steps:
  • Press the release button for the physical key
  • Taking a small flat head screwdriver, gently wedge the head in the side seam of the key fob’s casing to pop apart the fob
  • Remove the battery cover and dead battery. It can be helpful to use a small tool for this as well
  • Insert the new battery ensuring the positive side of the battery is facing up
  • Replace the battery cover and snap the key fob case back together
And that’s it! If you thought that was simple, try shopping for new
