How do I replace a Lincoln MKZ key fob battery?

The key fob to my Lincoln MKZ is getting unreliable. I usually have to hit any of the buttons a few times before it does the correct action, so I'm assuming the battery needs to be changed. How do you replace the MKZ key fob battery?

Yeah, it sounds like it’s about time to change the battery! Most
key fob
batteries last three to four years, but replacing your
Lincoln MKZ
key fob battery is pretty straightforward.
Follow these steps for easy replacement:
  • Begin by removing the physical key from the bottom of the fob by pressing its rectangular release button
  • Once the key is out, turn the fob over and gently wedge the key or a small flat head screwdriver into the slot to the right of where the key was
  • Carefully pop the back case off
  • Remove the old battery. It can be helpful to use the flat head screwdriver for this part
  • Insert the new battery with the positive side facing out
  • Clip the back case back onto the fob
