How do I replace a BMW key fob battery?

I’ve been having issues with my BMW key fob for about a month now. I’m getting frustrated with it as I always have to remember to manually lock my doors. How can I replace the battery in my BMW key fob?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling with your
BMW
key fob’s battery. Before resorting to a battery change, you may be able to charge your key fob while you drive once it’s in the ignition.
If you have a non-comfort access key, it automatically recharges while you drive. Your battery could be dead if you haven’t been taking longer trips recently or driving much.
If you have a smart key or comfort access key, you can open your key fob and replace the battery in your BMW key fob by following these steps:
  1. Buy a new CR2032 battery from your local auto shop.
  2. Locate the small tab on your key fob and press it to release the metal key.
  3. Use the key or a flathead screwdriver to pry off the battery cover.
  4. Carefully remove your old battery and replace it with the new one.
  5. Close your key fob and return the valet key to its housing.
Now that you have successfully replaced or recharged your key fob battery, you have the convenience of a working key fob again. If you’re looking for more car-related convenience, download the
