How do I remove the tint from my car windshield?

I just bought a used car, and it has what feels like six inches of tinting on the windshield. The problem is that I’m moving from Alabama to Minnesota, and Minnesota doesn’t allow any windshield tinting. How can I remove the tint?

! The only downside is the fact that you mentioned: windshield tinting is illegal in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. But fear not; removing it is relatively easy.
The easiest way to remove the tint from your windshield is to apply heat. Grab either a heating gun or a hairdryer and apply heat for about 10 seconds in one corner of the tint. You may need a razor blade to lift the corner of the tint.
Once you have the corner heated and it lifts away from the windshield, keep applying heat as you work your way from one side of the tint to the other. Take care to keep moving the heat source. If you apply it to one spot for too long, it can fuse to the glass, which creates a problematic situation where you need to use a razor blade.
Continue to pull the tint off the window, but don’t tug it too hard. It should come off with continual heat from your heat source.
If any tint adhesive or residue remains, use a water/vinegar solution, rubbing alcohol, or Goo Gone to remove it. After that, you should have a clean windshield without any added residue or tinting left.
Since you’re moving to Minnesota, keep in mind that you’re going to have to get a new driver’s license, update your registration, and get new car insurance. While the license and registration require a trip to the DMV, buying car insurance is a much easier process.
