You heard correctly! Using heat is an effective way to help remove the tint and adhesive glue from your car’s window.
The benefit of using a hairdryer is it’s a convenient and cost-effective way to remove the tint. Follow the instructions below for a tint-free window.
Step one: Heat the window tint using the hairdryer. Set the hairdryer on the high setting and hold it roughly two inches away from a corner of the window tint. When possible, begin to pry the corner section up with your fingernail, razor blade, or knife.
Step two: Carefully peel the film while blowing the hairdryer at the window. Hold it at the same distance as before. Direct the air stream to where the tint meets the glass. Continue to peel off the tint.
Step three: Use a clean towel to rub off any leftover adhesive. If the adhesive is difficult to remove, heat it with the hairdryer and wipe it away with the towel. You can also use Goo Gone Automotive or a similar product to remove adhesive.
Step four: Clean the window. Use auto glass cleaner and paper towels.
And just like that, the tint is removed!
