How do I remove the headlight assembly on a 2005 Mazda 3?
I just noticed a small hole in my headlight that is allowing it to fill with water. It seems like something I could fix myself without a bunch of tools, so I want to give it a try. How do I remove the headlight assembly on a 2005 Mazda 3?

Mazda 3
by removing the bumper cover and then disconnecting all the appropriate bolts and clips. As long as you are able to get under your car, this is an easy DIY repair. The first thing you need to do to remove the headlight assembly is take off the bumper cover. Then you will be able to remove the assembly itself. Here’s what you do:
Removing The Bumper Cover
- Get under the car and remove all the bolts that hold the front bumper cover in place.
- Locate and remove the bolts under each front wheel well.
- Remove the screws on top of the bumper cover and grille.
- Remove the bolt between the fender and bumper cover.
- Gently lift up the two clips behind the bumper cover to disconnect the bumper cover from the frame.
- Gently pull off the bumper cover.
Removing The Headlight Assembly
- Remove the bolts that hold the headlamp in place.
- Find and remove the clip inside the headlamp and the top of the fender.
- Remove the bolts on each side of the headlamp, starting with the one closest to the grille.
- Gently pull out the headlamp assembly just a few inches.
- Push in the pins behind the headlamp assembly so that you can pull out the light bulbs.
- Now you can remove the headlight assembly from the car completely.
