How do I remove super glue from car paint?
What's the best way to remove super glue from car paint? One of my kids wanted to know how strong it was and decided to use my car as a test subject. We got the doll off the passenger side door, but there's still a patch of super glue left behind.

Cars and kids don’t always mix, but try not to worry! You can follow these steps to remove super glue from your car paint:
- Start by soaking the glue by covering it with a warm, wet rag.
- Now mix a bit of hand cream with some dish soap and apply it to the glue.
Hopefully, it’ll come right off!
If the glue still doesn’t come off, we’ll kick things up a notch with acetone. Be aware, acetone can damage your paint and should only be used as a last resort—use it sparingly. To safely get the glue off using acetone:
- Put a little acetone on a cloth.
- Rub it gently against the super glue. This should eat through the glue and soften it.
- Stop frequently to check your progress. Make sure you aren’t scrubbing through the super glue and wiping at yourpaint.
- Continue until the glue is gone!
After removing the super glue, you should wash and wax your car to ensure it has a nice protective coating.
