How do I remove oil spots from my leather seats?

I must have spilled some oil on my car seats because they have oil spots on them now. Do you have any tips for removing oil from leather?

Unfortunately, oil is a very difficult material to clean up. You could take your car to a professional cleaner or try to clean the stains yourself with one of the following methods:
  • Apply an oil stain remover to the affected spots.
  • Gently apply a soft leather cleaner to the area. You’ll probably have to do this more than once since the oil will have soaked deep into the leather. You’ll make the spot go away for a while, but it’ll show up again over time.
  • Mix one tablespoon of dish soap with one cup of water. Use a sponge to carefully wipe at the stains. Thoroughly wipe away any soap residue with a moist cloth.
While it may be difficult to clean up an oil stain, it’s easy to clean up your car insurance policy with the Jerry app. Jerry can help save you money by collecting car insurance quotes from over 50 top insurers so you can compare prices and coverages in a matter of minutes.
