How do I remove dried pine sap from my car paint?

How do you get pine sap off of a car? I left the sap on for a bit since I didn’t have time to remove it, and now it won’t budge. What should I do?

Removing dried pine sap from car paint is definitely a hassle. Although annoying, there are some pretty effective home remedies to get your car back to looking like new.
To remove pine sap:
  • Apply acetone nail polish remover to the affected area. It will break up the sticky sap effectively. Just soak a cotton ball with nail polish remover and rub away at the sap in a circular motion.
  • Then, mix three parts baking soda with one part distilled water. Apply this paste to the affected area with a washcloth. This will help the nail polish remover do its job.
  • Wash your car after you finish up, and repeat these steps as necessary.
Since you clearly care about keeping your car in great shape, make sure it’s protected with great car insurance, as well.
