How do I register my car in North Carolina?

I'm moving to North Carolina at the end of September, and I want to bring my old truck from college along. However, I’ve never had to register a car in a new state, and I’m not really sure where to start. How do I go about registering my vehicle in North Carolina?

Congrats on the move! If you are moving to
North Carolina
permanently, you will need to get a North Carolina driver’s license and a North Carolina title on your car in order to register the vehicle with the state.
Once you establish permanent residence, you have a 60-day window to get your license and title. After establishing residence and acquired a state ID, you must bring the following information to
register your vehicle
at the DMV:
After they take down your information, you will need to pay a license plate fee plus any additional taxes. After that, you should be set!
Remember that if you’re moving to a new state, you will likely need to review and update your insurance policy. If you want to do this easily, check out the
