How do I register my car in Kansas?

I'm moving to Kansas next week, and I know I’ll need to update all of my car’s information as soon as possible. What’s the process for registering my car in Kansas?

Congrats on the move! A new resident has 90 days to register their vehicle with the
Kansas
DMV, but you’ll need to pass a vehicle inspection first. Here’s what you’ll need to bring to your vehicle inspection:
  • Kansas driver’s license
  • Vehicle title
  • Wallet to pay the $20 inspection fee.
Once the inspection is done, you will receive a Motor Vehicle Examination Certificate to take to the DMV and apply for your registration. You will also need:
  • Your vehicle title
  • A completed TR-212a form
  • Payment for registration fees (contact the DMV for payment information).
Remember that in order to drive legally in Kansas, you’ll also have to make sure your car insurance meets the
state minimum
. To update your policy easily, check out the

Congrats again, and enjoy your new location!
