How can I register my car in Indiana? I just moved there and I want to know what the process is going to be like.

Aw, congrats on your move! I hope you’re all settled in and enjoying your new home.
The
registration process
is fairly easy and only requires a quick trip to any BMV office. But before you do that, you’ll have to gather all the necessary documents.
Here’s what you need:
  • A completed application for Certificate of Title (Form 205)
  • Your Indiana driver’s license (which you can ask to obtain at the same time you’re registering your vehicle if you do not have one yet)
  • The original vehicle title
  • Proof of Indiana car insurance
  • Proof of residency
  • Social Security number
  • Proof of vehicle inspection, if applicable
  • Payment for titling and registration fees
After you’ve gathered all the documents, here’s what you need to do next.
If your vehicle was purchased over 60 days ago or you have yet to obtain the title, then you should visit a BMV office to:
  • Submit all required documents
  • Pay all required fees
If your car is titled and older than 60 days, then you can visit a BMV Connect Kiosk to complete the registration process.
To make it even more simple, you can register your car online if you have an Indiana title on your vehicle and are registering it within 60 days of purchase.
To register your vehicle online you’ll have to:
  • Go to the myBMV Online Registration portal and either create an account or sign in
  • Provide your Indiana driver’s license number and vehicle title information
  • Pay for registration fees
Now, as you’ve noticed, registering your vehicle should be the last thing on your list when you move to a new state since you’ll need things like an Indiana driver’s license and insurance. So make sure you’ve gathered all the above documents before visiting a BMV location.
And if you’re having a difficult time finding cheap car insurance in your area, I would suggest the
Jerry
app. A licensed broker that offers end-to-end support, the Jerry app gathers affordable quotes, helps you switch plans, and will even help you cancel your old policy.
Good luck!
