How do I put a Ford Fiesta in neutral?

I ran out of gas in my Ford Fiesta. I had a buddy come with a gas can but I had to wait in traffic for a while, which wasn’t very safe. In case this ever happens again, how do I get a Ford Fiesta into neutral so I can push it?

Oh no! I’m sorry you ran out of gas. Luckily, putting your Ford Fiesta in neutral is really easy.
  • If you have an automatic, simply move the gear selector to the N position.
  • If you have a manual transmission, just depress the clutch and slip your Fiesta out of gear. You might even give the stick shift a little wiggle just to be sure it’s disengaged.
Make sure your key is in the accessory position to keep the steering wheel unlocked and that someone is behind the wheel handling steering and braking as you move your car out of traffic.
It’s great if you’ve got friends to help you in a pinch, but if your
car insurance
policy includes roadside assistance, you can rest assured you’ll always have the help you need.
