How do I put a Dodge Charger in neutral?

I have a 2018 Dodge Charger, but unfortunately, the battery recently died. It’s in my small, one-car garage, so I need to move it out of the garage to jump-start the battery or replace it. What do I need to do to put a Dodge Charger in neutral?

Sorry to hear about your battery issues! Unfortunately, the newer Dodge Chargers have an electronic gearshift, so simply putting them into neutral with a dead battery isn’t possible. That said, to put a Dodge Charger in neutral with a dead battery, follow these simple steps:
  1. Locate the small compartment to the right of the stick shift.
  2. Pull it out.
  3. You should see a small orange or red strap attached to a metal lever.
  4. Keep your foot on the brake.
  5. Pull up on the strap.
  6. Once the metal lever is in the vertical position, your Charger is officially in neutral.
  7. Lower the metal lever to put the car back in park.
