How do I put a Dodge Charger in neutral?
I have a 2018 Dodge Charger, but unfortunately, the battery recently died. It’s in my small, one-car garage, so I need to move it out of the garage to jump-start the battery or replace it. What do I need to do to put a Dodge Charger in neutral?

Sorry to hear about your battery issues! Unfortunately, the newer Dodge Chargers have an electronic gearshift, so simply putting them into neutral with a dead battery isn’t possible. That said, to put a Dodge Charger in neutral with a dead battery, follow these simple steps:
- Locate the small compartment to the right of the stick shift.
- Pull it out.
- You should see a small orange or red strap attached to a metal lever.
- Keep your foot on the brake.
- Pull up on the strap.
- Once the metal lever is in the vertical position, your Charger is officially in neutral.
- Lower the metal lever to put the car back in park.
