How do I protect my car from an EMP?

I've heard electromagnetic pulses from the sun can damage your vehicle. I'm not a scientific expert, but I'm definitely worried about this! How can I protect my car from EMPs?

“EMPs can definitely sound scary, and I understand your concern! Luckily, you don’t have much to worry about: an EMP, or electromagnetic pulse, is a burst of radiation sometimes given off by the sun.
Usually, EMPs are harmless. Occasionally, though, it can impact automobiles and electronics. The following can help prevent damage to your car:
  • Cover exposed areas with aluminum foil. This allows the charge to dissipate and spread across the surface area of your car.
  • Buy a car with an aluminum frame instead of a steel one. Aluminum can absorb the shock of an EMP much more easily.
In reality, you probably won’t have any problems. However, if you do, take a look at your
comprehensive coverage
policy—it might cover EMP-based damage to your vehicle.
If your comprehensive coverage doesn’t include EMP damage and you don’t want to take any chances, try shopping around to see if you’re able to find a policy that does include it. One easy way to do this is through the
