How do I program the garage door opener in my BMW X7?
I have been trying for the longest time to program the garage door opener that came built into my BMW X7, but I haven’t had any luck. Could someone just tell me what it is I need to do to get that garage door opener working?

So, you’re having some trouble figuring out how to program the garage door opener in your
BMW X7
? That’s not uncommon, a lot of drivers get turned around by this particular design issue. Once you know exactly what to do, however, it’s pretty easy. Here are the steps that you’ll need to follow:
- Like many companies, BMW uses a Homelink system to coordinate various functions such as garage door openings. You’ll need to reprogram one of the HomeLink buttons to serve as the garage button. The review mirror buttons are usually the best ones to reprogram.
- Get into your BMW and make sure that all the doors are closed.
- Press the HomeLink button once.
- Wait for the orange indicator light to start flashing
- Once it does, hold your old garage door opener 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink button that you’re programming, and press and hold the “open” button on your old remote
- Once you see a bright and solid green light, you’ll know that it’s worked.
