How do I program my Honda garage door opener?
I recently bought a garage door opener for my Honda, but I’m having trouble trying to figure out how to get it connected—how do I program my Honda garage door opener?

The steps to program a Honda garage door opener depends on whether you have a rolling or fixed code garage door. We’ll walk you through how to figure out which you have in a little while.
Regardless of whether you have a rolling or fixed code door, the first few steps are the same:
- Hold your garage door remote within 6-inches of your Honda’s HomeLink buttons
- Press and hold both the HomeLink button you want to program and the “open” button on your garage door remote
- Continue holding both buttons until the HomeLink button flashes
- At this point, your HomeLink button will either turn solid or start flashing rapidly—this will determine whether you have a rolling code or fixed code garage door.
If your HomeLink light stays solid, it means you have a fixed code garage door, in which case you’ll need to:
- Press the HomeLink button you are attempting to program twice
- If the garage door opens or closes at this point, you have successfully programmed your Honda garage door opener
If your HomeLink light starts flashing rapidly, it means you have a rolling code garage door, in which case you’ll need to:
- Press the HomeLink button you art attempting to program twice
- Exit your vehicle and press your garage door motor’s “Learn/Smart” button once
- Return to your vehicle within 30 seconds and press down on the HomeLink button you are attempting to program three times
- If at this point the garage door opens or closes, you have successfully programmed your Honda garage door opener
