How do I program my BMW HomeLink garage door opener?

My partner recently got me a HomeLink to pair with my BMW, since I’m always trying to improve my home security. However, I’m not entirely sure how it works, and I don’t quite know where to start. How should I program my BMW HomeLink to open my garage?

For a home security fan, that’s quite a thoughtful gift! To program your
HomeLink garage door opener, you’ll just need to follow a few simple steps. Here’s what to do:
  • Get into your car. Make sure you have your garage door opener with you.
  • Press and release the button on the HomeLink that you want to program, then wait until you see an orange light.
  • Hold up your garage remote. Make sure it’s within one to two inches of your HomeLink.
  • Press and hold the Open button. Continue holding down this button until the HomeLink light changes to bright green.
  • Release both buttons. Press the HomeLink button once afterward to confirm your choice.
Your new system should be all set!
If you have other security and anti-theft devices in your car, it might also be a good time to review your car insurance policy, since you can often get
