How do I program a car remote for a Chevy?

What’s the easiest way to program a key fob? My family surprised me with a new car after my previous car was totaled. My dad said I should program the remote for the vehicle. But I’m not sure how to do that.

Wow, what a kind gift from your family! Programming a
car remote
for a Chevy might sound like it is a tricky task, but rest assured that you can do it yourself pretty easily.
Just follow these steps:
  • Step 1: Press the unlock button on the key fob. Enter your Chevy on the driver’s side.
  • Step 2: Close the door (and make sure all the other doors are closed, too). Then, insert the key in the ignition—but do not start the car.
  • Step 3: With the key still in the ignition, press and hold down on the unlock button on the driver’s side door. Next, turn your key to the on position in the ignition. (But again, do not start the vehicle.)
  • Step 4: Continue holding down the unlock button on the driver’s side door, and turn the key in the ignition back to the off position. Repeat the process of turning the key from the on position to the off position two more times.
  • Step 5: Release the unlock button.
  • Step 6: The door locks should engage and disengage. Listen for the noise. This will mean the fob is ready to be programmed.
  • Step 7: Hold down the unlock and lock buttons on your key fob at the same time. Once again, you will hear the door locks engaging and disengaging. After you hear that sound, programming is complete.
You have successfully programmed your car remote!
