How do I play music using Bluetooth in a 2014 Chevy Malibu?

I recently bought a 2014 Chevy Malibu to use for my commute, and I’m trying to figure out how to play music in it using Bluetooth. Can you help?

Of course! The first thing you’ll need to do to play music using Bluetooth in a
2014 Chevy Malibu
is make sure you have a trim that includes Bluetooth. The base
Malibu LS
did not include Bluetooth among its standard features. If that’s the model you bought, you’ll need to use the available USB port to listen to your tunes.
For all other 2014 Malibu trims, you can follow these steps to pair your smartphone with the Malibu’s Bluetooth system and commence rocking out:
  • Turn on your Malibu and keep it in Park
  • Touch the Phone icon on your Malibu’s touchscreen
  • Touch the option on the screen to Add or Connect a new phone. Depending on the model year you’re driving, it could say Add Phone, Pair Device, Connect Phone, or +.
  • Go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings, turn on Bluetooth, and select your vehicle from the list of options
  • Confirm the code shown on the phone matches the code on the infotainment screen
  • Touch Pair on the infotainment touchscreen.
  • If prompted, agree or disagree to allow the infotainment system to access your phone’s contacts and messages. Note that if you disagree, you can still make calls or send texts by saying a phone number, but you will not be able to do so by saying a contact’s name.
  • When pairing is complete, the infotainment screen will show your phone as available for making and receiving calls
