How do I paint a car logo black?

I just bought a Mazda CX-9, but the dealer didn’t have the blacked-out edition. I’m mostly fine with it, but I don’t like how bright the logo is. Is there an easy way to paint the car logo black?

Blacked-out editions have become very popular with many drivers, so there are plenty of ways to do it yourself! That being said, you’ll need painter’s tape and peelable rubber paint to do the job right.
Follow these step-by-step instructions to paint your car logo black:
  • To start, clean the logo and surrounding area with car soap and water to remove grime and dirt.
  • Tape off the area around the logo or model plate—it doesn’t need to be perfect, but it’s best to avoid overspray.
  • Spray the paint on the logo in straight lines, moving from left to right. Start at the top and work your way to the bottom in straight lines.
  • Let it dry.
  • Peel away the excess rubber paint for a smooth finish.
Congratulations! Your logo should now be black. This paint job should last for years, giving you plenty of time to smoke out the headlights and tint the windows.
