How do I open the gas tank on a Toyota Avalon?

I recently purchased a Toyota Avalon and I love it so far. However, it’s been sitting in my driveway for the past two days because of one major issue: I have no idea how to open the gas tank! What do I do to open the gas tank?

Unlike other cars, the Toyota Avalon doesn’t have any buttons or levers to pop the gas tank open, which makes it a bit more confusing! Fortunately, you can open the gas tank just by following these step-by-step instructions:
  1. Turn off the engine of your Avalon.
  2. Exit the vehicle.
  3. Make sure that the car is unlocked.
  4. Go to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.
  5. Press the right-hand side of the fuel filler door. It’s spring-loaded, so it should pop right open.
  6. When you’re done refueling,
    close the fuel filler door
     by pressing on the same spot.
