How do I open the gas tank on a Jeep Cherokee?

Just bought a Jeep Cherokee last week. Headed to the gas station for the first time and I realized I don’t know how to access the gas tank. How do I open the gas tank on a Jeep Cherokee?

Opening the gas tank on your
Jeep Cherokee
 is easy if you know what to do! How you open the gas tank is dependent on what year your Cherokee was released.
For Jeep Cherokee models from 2015-2018, there is a gas button you need to press on the driver’s side door trim. It should be just below the window controls. Press it to release the fuel door.
For Jeep Cherokee models from 2019-2021, there’s no interior button. All you need to do is put your car in Park and press on the center-rear edge of your fuel door.
