Well it’s a good thing your dad has that list or he may have been stranded at the gas station! To open the gas tank on a Honda Pilot 2004, find and press the fuel door release button inside the vehicle. The button will be among the driver’s door controls and depicts an image of a gas pump. After you’ve pressed the fuel door release button, walk back to your gas tank opening and twist off the fuel cap.

Be sure to secure the gas cap while filling up, then screw it back on and shut the fuel door tightly once you’re done at the pump.
