How do I open the gas tank on a Honda Civic 2016?

How can I open the gas tank on a Honda? I’m renting a Honda Civic while on vacation and I noticed the car was low on gas. Since I don’t personally own a Honda, I’m not sure how to open the gas tank. I can’t find a lever anywhere.

Renting a car is very convenient when on vacation, but it can certainly be confusing to understand how to use an unfamiliar vehicle. Don’t worry, you’re not missing anything! The 2016 Honda Civic doesn’t have a lever to open the gas tank. To open it, follow these:
  • Step 1: Make sure the car is parked on the correct side of the gas pump. If you are unsure, step out of the vehicle and check. Another handy tip is to look at the dashboard and fuel icon. Whatever direction the arrow is pointing on the gas icon is where the fuel tank is located.
  • Step 2: Once you are on the proper side, turn off your vehicle. Step out of the car and head to where the gas tank is.
  • Step 3: Gently push and release on the right bottom corner of the gas tank door. This will open the gas tank door, so you’re ready to refuel!
