How do I open the gas tank on a 2018 Kia Soul?
I’m driving my friend’s 2018 Kia Soul and I wanted to fill it up before returning it. But when I press on the fuel door, nothing happens! Is there another way to access the gas tank?

Kia Soul
, locate the fuel door lever recessed in the floor on the left side of the driver’s seat. It should have a white icon of a gas pump on it.Once you’ve found the fuel door lever, follow these steps:
- Make sure the Kia’s engine is turned off.
- Pull up on the fuel door lever. You should hear the fuel door click open.
- Exit the vehicle, go to the fuel tank door, and remove the gas cap.
- You’re ready to fuel up!
Once you fill your friend’s Kia, make sure you turn the gas cap until you hear one click. This will ensure it’s sealed. Push the fuel door closed, and you’ll be all good to return your friend’s 2018 Soul!
If the
fuel door won’t close
or you’re having trouble getting the door mechanism to release, it may indicate a deeper issue with the Kia. You should let your friend know about the issue when you return the vehicle so that they can get their Soul looked at and repaired if necessary.View full answer
