How do I open the gas tank on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica?

I’m using my aunt’s 2018 Chrysler Pacifica for the week and want to make sure it’s all fueled up before I return it. Where do I find the latch to release the gas tank door?

What a nice way to thank your aunt for letting you borrow her car! As for the latch, you won’t find one. There is no fuel tank release latch or button inside a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. Instead, simply press the center-rear edge of the fuel tank door. Since it’s round, imagine it looks like a clock face, and press in where the three would be.

If you have any issues opening the door, you may be experiencing some sort of mechanical problem. A trusted mechanic or your local Chrysler dealer will be able to further assist you, although it may be as simple as a frozen or rusted-shut door.

After opening the door, you’ll be able to easily access your gas tank, as there is no gas cap to unscrew. Simply pump your gas and push on the door gently to shut it.

If your fuel tank isn’t sealed before you drive off, your check engine light may illuminate—so be sure you’ve fully closed it.
