To stop your windshield wipers from squeaking:
  • Make sure the blades are free of dust
  • Wipe them down with WD-40 or vinegar
  • Clean the windshield
  • Replace them if the rubber has become dry and brittle
If your windshield wipers have started squeaking, the first thing you should do is closely inspect them. Make sure the rubber blades haven’t dried out or gotten brittle—if they have, you’ll need to replace them.
If the rubber looks fine, it probably means you need to either clean the windshield, clean the wipers themselves, or both.
A dirty windshield can be cleaned with glass cleaner or a generous amount of baking soda sprinkled on a dampened towel.
Wiper blades—including the arm and hinges—can be cleaned with hot water and soap, after which they should be wiped down with rubbing alcohol, vinegar, or WD-40 to help prevent future dust buildup.
