The first step may seem obvious, but I’ll say it anyway. Take out all the trash—this means fast food cups, junk mail, candy wrappers, all of it. Make sure you check under and between the seats and in the door compartments for trash, too.
Next, wipe down the dash and

. A damp microfiber cloth should work well to remove dust and smudges, but specialized interior wipes are even better.Then tackle the buttons, vents, and knobs. These frequently touched items can acquire a thick layer of gunk. Use a small brush or vacuum to suck up debris, dust, and other small particles from the vents and crevices, and wipe down each surface with a wet cloth.
And don’t forget to clean the seats! A vacuum with a hose attachment will work great for picking up crumbs and dirt on your upholstery. For leather seats, you should invest in a good cleaner and polish to restore their shine and keep them protected.
