How do I make my car's AC cold again?

I live in Arizona and even during winter, the heat is still insane. The last few times I’ve been in my car, the AC doesn’t blow cold air. It makes driving unbearable. How can I make my AC blow cold air again?

Driving in a hot car can feel unbearable and uncomfortable. Fortunately, you can use these tips to make your car’s AC cold again:
  • Replace your cabin air filter. If you don’t
    replace it within a year
, your cabin air filter can fill with dirt, pollen, and other debris—blocking the cold air from reaching the cabin. If you need to replace it, the cabin filter is located behind the glove compartment.
  • Always park in the shade. This will lower the interior temperature of your car, so your AC can cool off quicker.
  • Take it easy on the temperature. Instead of turning your AC directly to 50 degrees, slowly reduce the temperature over a few minutes. Sometimes, the AC can stop working when you push it too hard.
  • Don’t use the recirculation button. When you get into your car, the inside temperature is hotter than the outside temperature. Draw air from the outside to cool your car faster.
  • Take your car to the shop to recharge your AC system with refrigerant—it should usually cost around $100.
