How do I make my car AC smell better?
For weeks now, my car’s AC has been blowing some of the most disgusting-smelling air ever. I had to check my engine because I seriously thought something died in there. Turns out there’s nothing dead in my car. So, how do you get rid of a bad smell in a car AC?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with a stinky air conditioner. That can make it really hard to be comfortable in your own car!
The issue with your AC is very common and most likely due to mold in your AC unit. Here are three ways you can make your car AC smell better:
1. Spray an antiseptic into the air intakes on the exterior of your car. These vents are located outside your car at the base of the windshield. When you do this, be sure that your AC is on the setting that pulls air from the outside in.
2. Clean/replace your AC filters. Clean filters will keep the airflow to your AC clear and clean, thus getting rid of the smell. Check your car’s manual or your vehicle manufacturer’s website to find out how often your AC filters should be replaced.
3. Turn off your AC two to five minutes before you shut your car off but leave the fan on. Leaving the fan on will allow the AC unit to dry off and will prevent the buildup of moisture that causes the AC to stink.
