“The best way to prevent your car paint from fading in Florida is to store your vehicle in a garage or covered parking spot whenever possible. Also, be vigilant about cleaning your car.
This means you should wash and wax your vehicle regularly. During colder temperatures, once a month should suffice. In the summer, wash and wax at least once every two weeks.
However, if you live in a state where winter weather brings snow and ice, note that salt or chemicals may be used to improve road conditions. Protect your car’s paint and prevent rust and corrosion by washing your vehicle weekly.
If your car paint has severe damage, read through your
warranty
to determine if it’s covered. However, most don’t cover this, as paint fade isn’t a mechanical defect.Be aware that paying out of pocket to fix your paint is not going to be cheap. Professional touch-up jobs typically run from $800 to $1,200 depending on the size of the area(s) that need to be repainted.
