How do I keep rats away from my car wires?

How do I protect my car wires from rats? Yesterday, I was working on my car and noticed a few chewed wires. My only guess is that rats did it. I want to prevent this problem from happening again.

Rats certainly are a nuisance!
To keep rats away from car wires, take preventative measures to minimize the chances of rodents finding comfort in your garage. Here are some tips to help prevent rats from chewing on your car wires as a midnight snack.
  • If it’s possible, park indoors. Keep your garage door closed whenever it’s not in use.
  • Clean out your garage from materials critters can use as food or use for a nest. These include newspaper, cardboard, straw, rags, and patio furniture cushions.
  • Don’t store your garbage bins in the garage.
  • Look around your garage’s windows and doors for any gaps that allow rodents to sneak in. If you find any gaps, seal them shut.
  • If you park outside, try to park away from areas that attract rats, such as near garbage bins.
  • Remember to do regular interior cleaning and remove food wrappers or leftover food from your car.
  • If you know there is a rat problem in your neighborhood or home, set up traps around your vehicle.
Hopefully, these tips will help prevent any future chewed wires!
