How do I keep new car paint looking new?

I just bought a car, but I live in Florida and the sun can wreak havoc on paint. What are some tips to keep my car’s paint in like-new condition?

You’re right, the
Florida
sun can do some damage to your paint. So to keep your car looking like new, wash and wax it regularly, use a paint sealant and keep your car covered.
On a more in-depth basis, follow these steps to keep your paint shiny and bright:
  • Wash the car with a car wash detergent. Don’t use dish soap, as it’s too abrasive and can harm the paint and clearcoat.
  • Polish the paint with a high-quality wax. Do a wash and wax at least once a month.
  • Use a paint sealant at least once every six months.
  • Have a professional body shop apply ceramic coating, which can last from two-to-five years depending on the quality of the coating.
  • Park your car out of the sun or invest in a high-quality car cover.
Doing all of these steps can preserve the paint on your car and ensure that it looks like new even years down the road.
