How do I insure two cars on one policy?

I just moved into a new house with my partner, and we want to insure both cars on the same policy. How do I do that?

Congrats to you and your partner! Since you’re planning to insure two cars at once, it might be a good idea to get a
multi-car insurance policy
. You’ll have to make sure that your cars meet certain conditions in order to do this, though. Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Your cars must be registered and parked at the same address. Otherwise, your insurer may refuse your claim if you get into an accident.
  • You’ll need to get
    liability coverage
for each car on the policy
  • Both cars will need to be insured with the same carrier
Some insurers will require that both cars are registered to the policyholder, but others will allow you to include cars that are registered to family members.
